It’s easy to say the music releasing these days is boring, repetitive and uninspired but, with all the tools we have at an arm’s reach (streaming services, etc) we’re in a better place than ever before when it comes to discovering our favourite new band.
Recent releases have filled me with the hope that the latter half of 2019 could be a real treat for us music fans. Debut single from DJO, ‘Roddy’ is an amazing track and the best thing about it is the fact that it’s released completely out of the blue. Liam Gallagher’s latest single, ‘Once’ is a perfect homage to John Lennon in terms of it’s musical style. Lyrically, the track speaks so loudly for itself, lending it’s words of wisdom to Liam Gallagher and allowing the Mancunian to perform them in a way that only he can.
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has also released the quite stunning ‘Anima’. Yorke covers the record in his poetic wizardry, complete with a collection of beautiful computerised beats. ‘Anima’ is just one instance of music being released this year that is unlike any other. It’s incredibly difficult to make comparisons of other records to Anima, so I won’t begin to try.
Snow Patrol are celebrating 25 years as a band by reworking some of their most famous hits, starting with ‘Crack The Shutters’. The song takes on a new electric tone, giving it a much more modern feel than the original recording.
Basically, loads of exciting stuff is being released at the minute and you’d be a fool to miss out on it. Find Mortal Vibrations most recent recommendations below:
